WINTER SPORT COVER

Ski and Winter Sports Travel Insurance

Whether you are skiing in Norway, snowboarding in the Alps or tobogganing in the Rocky Mountains, our wintersports insurance covers your needs. Everything from lost equipment, closing of the slopes to a rescue in the mountains or repatriation is covered. The add-on cover from Allianz Global Assistance for your wintersports holiday has been created to give you peace of mind, even when you are in rugged terrain.

If you go without adequate wintersports cover, it can easily become a very expensive affair. An air ambulance costs a lot of money. If you cause harm to others, it can also have serious financial consequences for you. If you are serious about winter sports and you have invested in your equipment, wintersports cover can help to insure these valuable items, while also providing cover for emergency medical expenses, piste closures and more. You can opt to add wintersports cover to our various types of insurance and confidently go on your skiing holiday.

*If you have an existing medical condition, or have recently undergone treatment, it may affect your insurance coverage. You can read more about this in the policy documentation.

You should purchase wintersports cover because:

Other insurance does not cover skiing

Wintersports require a separate cover on your insurance.

When you go skiing or snowboarding, there is a greater risk that you will be injured compared to other types of travel.

Because these are dangerous sports, they are not normally covered by general insurance or annual travel insurance policies. You should take out extra wintersports cover if you are going to participate in winter sports such as skiing or snowboarding.

Wintersports cover can be bought as an add-on to Allianz Global Assistance's other policies.

You will not put your finances at risk

Wintersports insurance protects you from financial strain

If you love to ski or snowboard, you are probably already experienced in the rules of the piste, unfortunately this does not a guarantee that nothing will happen to you. Every year many people in Denmark get injured on the slopes. It may be self-inflicted, but it can just as easily be other skiers or nature that causes an incident or accident. If you are inexperienced, you will also be at risk.

Whether you travel to one of the popular destinations such as Sweden, Norway or Austria, or further to The United States or Canada, it will be highly advisable to add wintersports cover to your travel insurance.

If you do not have wintersports cover on your insurance, a search and rescue operation or repatriation to your home will pose a serious financial strain.

You are assured of repatriation

Wintersports cover is an investment in your health

Skiing is not the safest sport and many accidents happen every year. Wintersports cover includes emergency medical expenses whilst participating in skiing which would not be covered under a standard policy.

Wintersports cover can therefore be seen as an investment in your health. Should you get injured and require repatriation, the insurance will cover your transport home. Regardless of where you are skiing, repatriation can be a very costly affair.

It covers your expensive equipment

The insurance covers ski and snowboard equipment as well as piste and avalanche closure

Skiing is not known to be a cheap sport and as a skier or snowboarder you've probably invested in expensive ski equipment and clothes. Wintersports cover helps to insure these valuable items.

Wintersports cover also includes reimbursement for delayed ski equipment, hired ski equipment, piste closure, avalanches, search and rescue and physiotherapy. You can read more about the level of coverage in our insurance conditions .

It provides cover at your destination

Coverage at all the popular ski resorts

Skiing is a winter sport that spans multiple disciplines and includes skiing and snowboarding. A distinction is made between the Nordic disciplines (cross country, ski jumping and Nordic combined) and the alpine disciplines (downhill, slalom, giant slalom and super-G).

Many people in Denmark travel to either near-by Norway and Sweden or Austria, Switzerland, Italy or France in the Alps to ski. Many have also discovered that there are good slopes in countries such as Poland and the Czech Republic. Many ski areas in North America are also becoming ever more popular wintersports destinations.

By choosing either Extended Europe or Worldwide coverage, you can make sure that your wintersports insurance covers your favorite destination.
